Wood or synthetic foam was formerly used in limb cores. The Ultimate Pro limbs add kevlar to the foam at regular intervals in order to maximize both material's advantages.
In the case of the wood core system, wood offers superb tolerance due to the fibers and its high adhesive property. However, it is heavy and weak in humid weather, and due to knots it the laminates this can cause limb twist. Contrary to the wood limbs, synthetic foam cores feature lightness and strength against humidity. However, it is brittle and the adhesive properties are weak which can result in poor limb endurance.
