Q: Hello,
I am a beginner with very little knowledge and am looking to get into archery as hobby in my spare time. I want to purchase a traditional bow, and really like the look of the Raven Antelope 60". What is the build quality like compared to a similar Samick bow in this price range? 100-140. would you you say there is a lot of difference? I cant find a lot of info on Raven archery and wondered how good a product is compared to other brands? Would this bow be suitable for someone just starting out or would you opt for something else? Is the benefit of a take down bow simply that you dismantle it for easy transportation and storage?

A: The Raven/BuckTrail bows are of similar quality to the Samick bows of similar price. There is not much difference between them. They both shoot well and would make a great first bow. Regarding benefits of take down bows - You are correct. It is mostly to do with convenience. There are no performance reasons that would make one design better than the other. It is the quality of the design that matters.

I bought this from Merlin as a "fun" bow to shoot at home and I've been very pleased with it. The bow is amazingly light (its like holding a feather in your hand) but it shoots fast and well over a short distance. (I've only used it at 10 metres.) The hand-grip is the most comfortable of any bow I've ever had. Obviously, as a budget-priced bow you must expect it to have its limitations but, if you're looking for a small barebow to have fun with, then I would certainly recommend it. I've had this bow for over a year and it is a real pleasure to shoot. It is smooth to draw and is fairly quick on release. There is very little if any vibration through the bow.Rating
I have used it for both field and target and have had some very good scored with it.
The finish is top notch and once polished up is very eye catching.
