During winter, the Indoor season takes precedence and another highly competitive aspect of target archery begins. Indoor rounds are normally shot at 18 meters at smaller targets. There are some very prestigious indoor events on the indoor calendar, open to all archers with money and other prizes up for grabs. The biggest of these to date is the World Archery Festival held each year in Las Vegas with a prize fund of $165,000. Over 1700 professional and amateur archers alike travel from all over the world to compete and try and get the top prize.
Closer to home, indoor events are held in school halls and sports clubs across the country which all combine to make archery a true all year round sport.
