Great bow, for great price
(Posted on 14/09/2016)
I started with 40# bow, and moved to 50# after 6 months.
Great, stable and predictable bow. Suitable for ring or finger release.
Compared to other traditional bow, this one is light and fast.

Great bow - superb value
(Posted on 25/06/2016)
This is a superb bow with excellent performance. I have been shooting thumb ring style for 6 years and this bow compares very well with much more expensive items such as Kassai and Grózer bows. I don't own a chronograph but shooting Easton Powerflight 500 the Windfighter 55# is visually faster than Grózer Biocomposite Turkish 60# @ 28". If you shoot Asian style the Kaya Korean bows are by far best value in terms of performance IMHO. It is also accurate with practise and can be shot with 3 fingers if you draw about 28" - though performance is much better with thumb release.

Lively little bow
(Posted on 23/03/2016)
Coming from a barebow recurve background, I bought one of these just for a change and it is such fun. Don't expect your groupings to be anywhere near a 1.5kg recurve as this thing only weighs a few ounces and dances around merrily. You shoot off the hand so make sure that your fletchings are well groomed with no sharp edges or it'll give you a bite to remember. A drop of glue on the leading edge will help cover any sharp quills. It is so light, easy to pull back for it's draw weight and quick to setup the shot and shoot. With it being so light it requires quite a firm grip which then results in significant hand shock so I think I need to work out a way to adopt a lighter grip without compromising the arrow rest or aim. I've had no issues with stringing it, just followed the instructions that came with it. Unfortunately mine arrived with no string in the box but Merlin soon sorted that out and sent me another. In terms of accuracy, think more in terms of longbow rather than barebow recurve and you won't be disappointed. We just need to convince ArcheryGB to create a category for these lovely, lively little bows.

brilliant!

Bought this as my first traditional bow and I must say don't be fooled by the size of this super little bow, a little awkward to string but a rubber band securing one end helps that.
If anyone doubts the performance of this bow, just try one

Fantastic
(Posted on 10/09/2015)
As a beginner in mounted archery, I was advised by my instructor to invest in this 'value for money' model. Perfect for daily practice, light and easy to draw and still looks respectable at mounted archery competitions! As soon as you master a lighter draw weight and master the technique you can invest in a different draw weight or model- However, I intend to keep my model for a long while yet....

wow, small and powerful
(Posted on 01/08/2015)
This bow is great, you can seriously draw it, im 6'4 and take up virtually all of a 33 inch shaft. Arrow fly flat and straight , no need to cast high. The draw is smooth, does not stack even at long draw length. A delight, only down side is that you will want to buy lots of arrows, ''who wants to be walking to retrieve''
shooting off the hand will cause some cosmetic bow damage, but that can be fixed.
I bought the 50lb but wouldnt be scared of the 60.
a great intro to traditional shooting

Very good

Very good horse bow, looks beautiful and very light! I think this bow tries to follow Chinese Ming dynasty (1368–1644) style, although it's made in Korea. To be honest, stringing is indeed a nightmare........I had to always put it underneath my leg while sitting down, with both hands lifting two ends; then ask someone else to put the string on........ I couldn't string it with any other single person way (tried at least 5 different positions and all failed, but it is very easy with two people)

Enjoyable

Had this bow about two months now. I got the 60#. It's extremely light and good fun to shoot. Hard to string if you're not use to it. It comes with instructors on how to. Though I still use my bow stringer and get someone to place the string. The material around the grip will wear down but I've just put some green tape around it. Still enjoy shooting it today.

This will put a smile on your face!

I've really enjoyed shooting with this little bow - looks good and is really fast. Performs better than I expected. Arrows go further than with recurve. I'm having some good shooting with this bow.

OK I guess
(Posted on 20/09/2014)
The actual bow is a solid piece of kit. It gets cheaper with all plastic add ons. It has two roundish string retainers that hold the string when strung. One was out of perfect centre. You shoot from the hand. The grip is an ok foam type material. The Bit where the arrow slides when you shoot of the hand will deteriorate quick.

Stringing it will be a bit of a nightmare if you come from Target archery, field recurves or similar. It proper recurves back like a real horse bow, so stringing it will need a good technique. Forget stringers. Behind the back or like I do it under left leg and over right foot. But if you do not get the alignment right the exercise will have been in vain.

Shooting is imo reliable. Other sites talk of a handshock, I dont notice it. It is very light. Especially if you are used to a target recurve with all attachments

I love shooting traditional, bare raw archery and this will nicely do it if you occasionally replace the arrow slide material.

Great horse bow!
(Posted on 31/03/2014)
The Kaya horse bows are the best in their price range, even beating a lot of more expensive bows. Unlike the cheaper Hungarian bows with solid glass fibre limbs, the Kayas have laminated limbs giving superior performance. The Windfighter is the bow we always recommend to aspiring horseback archers as it is cheap and available in a lot of draw weights. For horseback archery a good starting point is 35#, adjusting up or down based on strength and archery experience. It is better to start with a lighter bow and at this price you don't have to sell the house when you decide to upgrade :)

Highly recommmended!
